forearm crutches crip

crutch ergonomic grip

The ergonomic grip on our shock-absorbing crutch is at an angle (12°) designed to provide the greatest amount of blood flow and reduced trauma to the nervous system.

  • Designed for repetitive and vigorous use
  • Allows proper blood flow and nerve conduction
  • Reduces carpal tunnel syndrome and wrist tendonitis

natural gripNatural Ergonomic Grip

In a natural grip, the third metacarpal bone aligns with the radius bone of the arm. The object in the hand is also angled at approximately 24°. Ergonomically designed devices mimic this natural angle of the body, thus reducing stress to joints and muscles.

 crutches unatural gripUnnatural Grip

When the hand is forced into an unnatural position, the third metacarpal bone no longer aligns with the radial bone. This causes the muscles and joints of the hand and wrist to be traumatized and overstressed.

Physical Ergonomic Test

test bar physical ergonomic test

Grasp a long object such as a pen or a stick. Hold it out in front of you and notice the angle at which it rests. Slightly release your grip and move your wrist to the left. Now squeeze the object.

Do the same moving your wrist to the right. Notice the stress that is not present when grasping in a natural position.

Conventional crutches are not ergonomically designed, and their users—especially their long-term users—run the risk of serious injury.
